A few words
Gathered below are a few words from poems, prayers, and projects that I have found meaningful – I hope you will too. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to offer a response. Be well.

A Novena for CPMC Leadership,
Ministers, Volunteers
The Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition (CPMC) leadership team asked for the creation of a novena to be used at the onset of their public search for the organization’s first Executive Director.

Mary, Mother of Captives
A prayer written for the Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition in honor of all peoples impacted by incarceration. Mary, the mother of Christ, is an example of how to contemplate issues of justice and move to faith-filled action. The icon was painted by Jack Pachuta.

Finding Rest
John Muir had it wrong.
They are not calling.
The mountains, they are waiting.
We are the ones who call out.

Mass on Texas Death Row:
Prayer of the Faithful
Taking into consideration the circumstances of the women on death row, the words they shared with CPMC, the ministers in the coalition network, and the usual prescribed formula for composing Prayers of the Faithful, I drafted a set of prayers.

Who Do You Say That I Am?
“Who Do You Say That I Am?” is an educationally structured reflective resource for faith communities, classrooms, non-profits, and ministries looking to learn more about catholic social teaching and what our faith challenges us to consider when it comes to incarceration.

Cold & Heaving
As the thin, cold air wistfully settles into the valley, leaves urgently rush to the chilled, heaving soil.

Let Me Find You
Let me find you. But not in the arrogant way that Robert Frost enlightenedly chose that less travel road.

Breeze & Balance
The moss has her gentle breeze
The mushroom has her balance
Breeze and balance

Expected Grace
I can feel its impact ripple across my face announcing its deliberately delicate presence…

Whose Sheep
How do we respond to this? How do we, like the Good Shepherd, set out with hope, non-judgment and a grace-filled presence to accompany our sisters and brothers who have been divided from the community?
Let's talk.
