Whose Sheep

What was this project?

After the Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition asked me to administer and design a community event highlighting the issues of addiction and incarceration, they asked for an article recapping the evening and lifting up the need for ministers. Specifically the Coalition wanted to encourage Deacons to be involved.

What was involved?

I reached out to Our Sunday Visitor and was connected with the editor of The Deacon. He expressed openness to the article.  After working with Cardinal Joseph Tobin (Archdiocese of Newark), Jim Wahlberg (“The Big Hustle”), and representatives from non-profits doing the work of accompanying people impacted by incarceration and addiction, I took time to reflect on what they shared. The parable of the Lost Sheep surfaced, but from the point of view of the sheep that became separated. Brining together their experiences, thought provoking statistics, and and invitation for the reader to draw personal connection, the article challenges us  to consider things from a different point of view. You can read the article on The Deacon website.
